Bob Duke
COO
Mr. Robert J. “Bob” Duke has spent the past 14 years in the energy efficiency business. Starting out with a residential spray foam company in Charleston, S.C., Mr. Duke grew that operation into a large scale Commercial & Federal spray foam company that successfully completed projects throughout the Eastern USA.
The continuing growth of the business, combined with Mr. Duke’s industry involvement led to Applied Energy Savings Systems or “AESS” expanding into the assessment & repair of Building Envelopes.
Presently, AESS specializes in improving the efficiency of existing buildings in the commercial & institutional marketplace.
Within both the Spray Foam & energy efficiency industry, Mr. Duke has served in varying capacities of industry leadership. Beginning with the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance or “SPFA”, Bob served on several committees, progressed to a member of the Board of Directors culminating with service to the SPFA as President of that organization from 2012 – 2014. In 2009, Mr. Duke participated in a joint industry / agency forum at the EPA on the proper use of spray polyurethane foam as well as serving as Moderator & Featured Speaker for several industry symposiums.
Mr. Duke & AESS are Air Barrier Association of America Certified Installers & Mr. Duke currently is Chairman of the Existing Building committee within the Air Barrier Association of America. Mr. Duke is a long time instructor for the SPFA’s Professional Certification Program & has made “Spray Foam 101” presentations throughout the country over the past 10 years.
Prior to starting AESS, Mr. Duke enjoyed a 22 year corporate career culminating in a Vice President position with Daimler Chrysler. Mr. Duke & his wife, Tara have 2 grown children & reside in Charleston, S.C.
Joseph Mander
Vice president of Operations, Applied Energy Saving Systems Inc.
Joseph serves as the Vice President of Operations at Applied Energy Savings Systems, Inc. (AESS), where he plays a key role in overseeing quality operations, team development and strategic growth. With more than 25 years of experience in high-end residential repair and remodeling. Joseph brought a wealth of practical knowledge and leadership to AESS when he joined the company just over a decade ago.
Joseph’s career began with AESS in an as-needed capacity, helping the company expand and refine its operations. Through dedication and commitment to excellence, Joseph became a minority owner in 2020 and was promoted to his current role as Vice President of Operations. His leadership focuses on maintaining the highest standards of quality while mentoring his team to grow in knowledge, leadership and character.
Outside of work, Joseph treasures time with his wonderful wife, their five children, and seven grandchildren. He considers his family, his greatest blessing and source of inspiration.

Drew and Reese lead AESS’s Building Assessment Team, combining decades of field experience with advanced data analysis to identify performance issues and improve building envelope efficiency. Their collaborative approach blends hands-on expertise with analytical modeling to deliver measurable results that enhance energy performance, indoor air quality, and building longevity.
Together, they provide AESS clients with clear, data-driven insights that reduce operating costs and extend the life of their buildings.
Drew, the Lead Assessor for AESS, has evaluated more than 90 million square feet of building space nationwide. With over twenty years of experience in the field, he specializes in diagnosing complex building envelope and mechanical system interactions that cause energy loss, air infiltration, and moisture issues. His assessments translate technical findings into clear, prioritized recommendations that balance cost, performance, and occupant health, enabling clients to make informed, result-oriented improvement decisions. Drew’s methodical approach and field insight make him a trusted expert in identifying the root causes of inefficiency and developing practical, high-impact solutions.
Reese joined AESS in 2021 as the firm’s second assessor, bringing a highly analytical and data-driven perspective to the assessment process. She develops detailed energy and building envelope models using facility-specific parameters such as marginal energy rates, pressure diagnostics, temperature differentials, and climate zone data to quantify potential energy savings. In addition to conducting field assessments with Drew, Reese manages AESS’s contact database and supports operational reporting, ensuring data integrity and consistency across projects. Her technical precision and process discipline enhance the accuracy and value of every assessment deliverable
